About me

When I was 22, I was elected to Beverley Town Council in the East Riding of Yorkshire, where I served for four years including a year as Mayoress of the town.

At the 2005 General Election, I was the youngest Labour prospective parliamentary candidate in Yorkshire. I came second in the Yorkshire East seat, securing nearly 15,000 votes.

In 2009, I was chosen by Labour Party members to be the third ranking candidate on Labour's Yorkshire and the Humber list for the European elections, behind the then two sitting MEPs, Linda McAvan and Richard Corbett.

I live in Rotherham and my work is based in Northallerton and across North Yorkshire.

I have a keen interest in environmental and educational issues. I want to see Labour returned to government. And I really do enjoy political campaigning!
